Preschool Director

Cornerstone Kids Preschool is seeking a full-time 40-hour a week Preschool Director for a year-round 70+ student faith-based preschool at Cornerstone Church in Cutler Bay, Florida.  This person would supervise 15+ teachers, aides, and custodial staff.  The candidate must have an outgoing personality, be able to relate to both young children and adults, and have a servant’s heart.  The director reports to the Pastor of the church and the governing bodies within the church organization, including the Preschool Board.


  • Minimum requirement: State of Florida Director’s Credential with VPK endorsement; FCCPC – Florida Child Care Professional Certification (formerly known as CDAE); AA/AS or above, plus two years experience; or a minimum of five years experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred, or Current Florida Teaching Certificate with DCF coursework;  Director’s Advanced Credential preferred.


2-3 years Director’s experience in a faith-based center preferred.


  • Professionalism, management, communication, leadership, and computer skills.

  • Social media understanding and marketing creativity.

  • Maintain all licensing requirements according to FL DCF, VPK, and UMAP standards.

  • Uphold all United Methodist Church guided practices.

  • Ensure a safe, educational, and caring environment for children and parents.

  • Promote and maintain quality of early childhood program and Christian education.

  • Handle and supervise all year-round administrative functions of the preschool.

Job Summary: To help students, leaders and parents come closer to Christ through teaching, fellowship, community, and more.  The main focus of this task is to outreach to teenagers during their middle school and high school years.


Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

Weekly Duties

  • To prepare for Sunday night student activities by preparing a Scripture-based lesson, games and group building opportunities and organizing dinner or snacks for both middle and high school students

  • Meet and Greet the parents before and after Sunday night activities

  • Manage student information and attendance records through REALM

  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Mentor Youth Intern(s)

  • Manage Student Ministries budget and discuss with supervisors and finalize Church Business Administrator

  • Manage Communications with parents and congregation through emails, bulletins, phone calls, social media, and mailers

  • Keep student ministry area of website, Facebook/social media and REALM up to date

  • Engage in pastoral care and relational discipleship for all active student members through phone calls, text messages, social media, and personal visits as time allows

  • Attend weekly worship with students in the 9:30am East Contemporary service

  • Consistently engage in practices of personal spiritual formation


    As Needed Duties (as time allows)

  • Plan and oversee large scale summer mission trip including fundraisers through-out the year

  • Encourage parents to get involved and develop opportunities for parents to participate in Student Ministry

  • Plan and develop opportunities for parents within the student ministry to connect  and engage with one another

  • Plan and oversee small summer student activities that will give the students the opportunity to connect, serve and grow

  • Recruit and mentor Volunteer Student Leaders and Parents

  • Plan and oversee year-round special trips such as Rock the Universe, spiritual life retreats, special student conferences, Summer Camp, etc.

  • Oversee and facilitate, in partnership with the Pastors, the FUMC’s Confirmation Program including classes, retreats, and Confirmation Sunday

  • Prepare monthly reports for Leadership Council and submit to Pastors

  • Attend weekly Program Staff meetings and check in frequently with other program staff ministers

  • Handle monthly credit card requisitions including reimbursements and receipts for church credit card

  • Assure that all volunteers and staff working with students have successfully passed a background check and participated in the FUMC child / student safety training event


    Reports to: Pastor Marcus and Pastor Rachel

    Oversees: Volunteer Student Leaders and Volunteer Parents

    Classification: Part Time 20 hours, Non-Exempt

  • Must be skilled in Quick Books, general book-keeping policies so to do bill paying and bank statement reconciliation, e-mail communications, filing, correspondence, and office organization

  • Good organization and interpersonal skills a must *Approximately 15-20 hours/week

  • Required to be on-site Sundays, from 10-12:30pm *Starting Salary range from $15-20/hr


Responsibilities include:

  • Be present during worship on Sunday, becoming acquainted with congregation – there is no faith requirement, but "greeting personality" is important, relate information when asked, able to handle audio board for microphones and slide presentation software.

  • Process bills, invoices, donations, checks through Quick Books, maintain Church business records, contracts and service agreements; prepare financial reports for Church leaders and Conference reports.

  • Manage Church files and Church mail/emails, prepare and facilitate mailings, manage church online photo directory and contact info, and maintain accurate list of official Church members.

  • Facilitate email blasts to congregation, work with Pastor and other Staff/Church members to develop content.

  • Prepare and print Worship Bulletins for Sunday (manage copier, use Adobe CC and Word, etc.).

  • Prepare worship video slides for Sunday, recruit/train volunteers for presentation software used during worship, remind volunteers of schedule and tasks to be done.

  • Plan, recruit, and supervise volunteers and staff for sanctuary setup on Saturdays and breakdown after Sunday worship and other special events.

  • Track worship attendance, get contact info from visitors, prepare list of visitors for Pastor, present names of regular attendees that are absent, so Pastor may call.

  • Help facilitate online giving on Sundays, prepare offerings for deposit and deliver to bank, become fully fluent in online giving practices.

  • Encourage Church volunteers with personal follow-ups, reminders, recruit for specific tasks, thank- you notes, etc.

  • Assist with any special weekend events as needed and agreed to ahead

Miami Lakes United Methodist is looking for an experienced pianist/ choir director for the traditional service for our multicultural congregation of about 300 members. The sanctuary has good acoustics and has a baby grand piano.



  • Three years experience, within the past five years, of directing choir and playing accompaniment

  • Ability in a wide range of styles including traditional Christian music 

  • Creative vision sequencing music for special services

  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and motivate choir members 

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with Pastor and choir groups
